Print 1099-MISC with Carbon Paper? What a Disaster!

몇장 안 보낼 1099-MISC 를 위해 이번에는 CPA office 에 부탁하지 않고 내가 꼭 해보려 준비를 다해놓고 프린트하려 했는데 어제 한참 고생을 했다. 

IRS 에서 받은 Form 1099-MISC 는 carbon paper 가 붙어 있어 물론 뒷장들은 흐리게 나오리라 기대했지만 실제 Laser printer 로 해보니 뒷장이 전혀 프린트 되어 나오지 않았다. 처음에는 잘 되는것 같았는데 조금씩 자리가 움직여 엉뚱한 난에 적혀졌다. 원본이 아까와 다시 자리를 맟추어 볼 생각에 다시 했더니 이번에는 잼이 되어 프린터를 열고 끼어진 종이를 찾아내고....  원본이 모자랄것 같아 결국 한장씩 뜯어 얇은 뒷장들을 하나씩 프린트했더니 laser printer 를 거치고 나오니 프린트는 되어도 종이가 겹쳐지고 구겨져 엄망이 되어 버렸다.  이제 남은 원본은 1장밖에 없고 1096 조차 자리가 움직여 엉뚱한 자리에 찍혀 나오고....   What a Disaster1!!!!

프린터를 쓰지 않고 펜으로 쓰면 뒷장 carbon papers 까지 잘 되겠지만 보기가 훙할것 같다. 누가 요즘 세상에 hand writing 으로 1099 form 을 보내 주겠는가? 그렇다고 오랫동안 쓰지 않던 리본 잉크도 다 말랐을 type writer 를 시도해보기도 어렵고...봉투도 마땅치 않고... 그나마 1장 밖에 남지 않았는데....  IRS 에서는 인터넷에서 다운로드해서 프린트한 것은 받아주지 않는다고 하니.... 그래도 다짐한 대로 CPA office에 부탁하기는 싫고...

결국 프린트되어 있는 laser print 용으로 된 Carbonless Form 을 주문했다. $21 로 봉투까지... 진작 샀더라면 지금쯤 벌써 보내 주었을텐데... 물론 폼이 도착하고 실수없이 프린트할때까지 안심할수 없지만 어제 Disaster 에 비하면 한결 가벼워진다.

다시 한번 확인해본다.

• Form 1099-MISC Copy A & 1096 를 IRS 에 2월 28일까지 도착하도록 보낸다.

  

• Form 1099-MISC Copy B & Copy 2 를 1월 31일까지 vendor 들이 받을수 있도록 보내 준다.
  
• Form 1099-MISC Copy C & Copy 1 를 보관한다.
  

Who should receive Form 1099-MISC?

•  contractors of all kind
•  wholesalers
  
•  consultants, inspectors
•  property managers
•  assistants
•  bookkeepers, accountants, and attorneys
•  landlords from whom your business rents
•  your business partners if you paid them
  

You do not need to send Form 1099-MISC in these cases:

•   You paid the person a total of less than $600 during 2012
  
•  The person who worked for you is a corporation, and you made payments to his corporation. You still need to send 1099s to all DBAs, LLCs, and partnerships. But attorney’s fees must be reported on 1099-MISC even if he is incorporated.
  
• Commissions paid at closing to licensed realtors and mortgage brokers
• Payments for purchasing all kind of goods, materials, and property, including real estate itself
• Repayments of loans
